SC Technical College System Employees Participate in
South Carolina Business Week
Several SC Technical College System employees recently served as Company Advisors at South Carolina Business Week. Sponsored by the SC Chamber of Commerce, Business Week is an educational program provided to the state's rising high school sophomores, juniors and seniors. The program allows high school students the opportunity to learn about many aspects of business from 20 business executives (Company Advisors) from across the state.
The mission of South Carolina Business Week is to contribute to the preparation of young adults for the business environment by introducing them to the principles of leadership, teamwork and the American free enterprise system while promoting self-reliance, individual responsibility and entrepreneurship.
Some activities for the week included a tour of the new BMW Z3 manufacturing facility, interaction with the state's top business leaders and information about career opportunities and trends.
SC Technical College System employees who served as Company Advisors were:
- Peter Stone (Head Company Advisor) - Spartanburg Community College
- Chris Fant - Spartanburg Community College
- Candace Ledford - Spartanburg Community College (Adjunct)
- Carla Whitlock - Apprenticeship Carolina
Tom Ledbetter of Midlands Technical College also served as a speaker during one of the sessions.
